Hang Gliding Parachutes
For over two decades, Rocketman’s hang-gliding drogue systems have been engineered, tested, and refined specifically for the aerodynamic demands of foot-launched flight. The Rocketman Hang Glider Drogue Chute allows pilots to precisely manage glide ratio, approach energy, and descent rate when terrain, weather, or landing zones require rapid but controlled altitude loss.
In high-performance gliders—especially topless and high-aspect wings—pilots often encounter challenges such as overshooting tight LZs, descending through turbulent layers, or penetrating strong gradient winds near the surface. A drogue chute adds a reliable, predictable drag force that allows pilots to steepen their glide path without increasing airspeed, maintaining control authority even during challenging final approaches.
Our drogue chute is intentionally built around a patented four-line parabolic architecture, which has demonstrated superior stability compared to traditional round or modified conical drogues. The geometry of the canopy ensures excellent boundary layer attachment, minimizing canopy collapse, surging, and yaw-oscillation that can occur in pilot wake or variable air.
A robust 1,500 lb. stainless steel swivel eliminates line twist even during dynamic air, ensuring that the generated drag remains stable and aerodynamically centered behind the pilot or keel.
And in the rare but critical scenario where a pilot must jettison the system, our quick-release disconnect allows instant cutaway, preventing unwanted drag during high-wind landings or post-touchdown glider control situations.
